Hokey-Pokey by William Shakespeare
By Jeff Brechlin
O proud left foot, that ventures quick within
Then soon upon a backward journey lithe.
Anon, once more the gesture, then begin:
Command sinistral pedestal to writhe.
Commence thou then the fervid Hokey-Poke,
A mad gyration, hips in wanton swirl.
To spin! A wilde release from Heaven’s yoke.
Blessed dervish! Surely canst go, girl.
The Hoke, the poke—banish now thy doubt
Verily, I say, ‘tis what it’s all about.
Everyday is a challenge and an adventure. Welcome to the MacCarthy blog. Enjoy and please feel free to contribute. Blessings! Sandy (For the book club reading list, scroll down to the bottom of the blog. Everything we have read since 1999 is there!)

There's no I in team
What a week-end at the Rio Tinto Alcan Dragon boat race. Habu had great times on and off the water. Made the finals in the 2nd highest division out of 180 boats. Also beat several of our fellow Sake teams.
Thanks to everyone for the great time and keeping a great attitude despite the major downpour and leaky tents! Thanks also to Luise and Angela for showing much more grace than I when it was their turn to rotate out for a race. Habu "soggy" rocks!
Hey book club ladies - reading the Bone People in picture 2.

Hiram Chittendon locks
Spent the day playing tourist. The Locks connect salt water Puget Sound to fresh water Lake Union/Lake Washington. We will be going through the locks on Captain Bill's boat in August on our way to Victoria.
There is a fish ladder so the salmon can travel safely - this is the underwater viewing area
The terraced lawn is gorgeous and a great spot for a layback (nap).

The spillway's job is to keep the water levels of the sound and lake where they should be

More wisdom obtained while sitting at Michelle's desk
This saying about hugs is at Michelle's desk and at the nurses desk. It started a great discussion with a patient especially when I shared Lynn's experience with Amma, the wise woman and spiritual leader who sat as long as 22 hours to give everyone waiting a hug.
Michelle always seems to know when friends, patients, etc need a wonderful healing hug.
Anyway, here's the hug quote, actually two, since I found two different versions online.
Hugging is good medicine. It transfers energy, and gives the person hugged an emotional boost. You need four hugs a day for survival, eight for maintenance, and twelve for growth. A hug makes you feel good. The skin is the largest organ we have and it needs a great deal of care. A hug can cover a lot of skin and gives the message that you care. It is also a form of communication. It can say things you don't have words for. The nicest thing about a hug is that you usually can't give one without getting one. ~ Author Unknown
“Hugging is good medicine. It transfers energy and gives the person hugged an emotional lift. You need four hugs a day for survival, eight for maintanance and twelve for growth. Scientist say that hugging is a form of communication because it can say the things you don’t have the words for. And the nicest thing about a hug is that you usually can’t give one without getting one.”
