My favorite author was sharing how much this hymn meant to her, partly because it was played at her brother's funeral. It means a lot to me, mostly because of the incredible story of the former slavetrader and how God used him to create probably the most beautiful, comforting hymn ever.
Everyday is a challenge and an adventure. Welcome to the MacCarthy blog. Enjoy and please feel free to contribute. Blessings! Sandy (For the book club reading list, scroll down to the bottom of the blog. Everything we have read since 1999 is there!)

The greys are TV stars again
Moira, Mary and the pups were on New Day NW today! Here's the intro to the segment on the King5 website:
Moira Corrigan and Mary Gibbons from Greyhound Pets, Inc. talked with Margaret about the benefits of adopting a retired greyhound and why they make such good pets. They brought with them Addie (Moira's dog) and Royal, who retired from racing in Oklahoma and is now looking for a family to spend her golden years.

AZ trip - Kyle Petty!
Stayed at cousin Diana' house and took in Nascar week-end at Phoenix International Raceway. Kyle (Richard Petty's son) was filming a live show for Speed Channel. He is the greatest. I especially love hearing about Victory Junction Camp which he established in honor of his son Adam who died in a race. The camp funds weeks of fun for campers with all sorts of medical concerns. They bring in medical specialists as well, each week is specially designed for children with a different diagnosis.
Then driver Ryan Newman won me over when I found out his foundation helps rehome abandoned animals!
